A nationwide environmental contest, "Green Zachet," has started in Russia.

      November 20, 2025 14:03 Society — The all-Russian environmental competition "Green Zachet" (12+) has launched in Russia. From November 18 to December 15 the first, online testing stage is taking place, in which students in grades 8–11 and first- and second-year university students can participate.

      The test was developed by lecturers from the D. I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology (RKhTU) and the Moscow State University of Geological Prospecting (MGRI) and includes tasks in biology, chemistry, geography and ecology. To take part, you must register on the project’s official website — зеленыйзачет.рф — by clicking the "Participate" button.

      Participants who achieve the best results will advance to the second, in-person stage of the competition, which will be held in February 2026. The winners will also be determined then.

      According to Dmitry Kobylkin, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, "ecology needs smart, well-qualified specialists," and taking part in the "Green Zachet" is an opportunity to test one’s knowledge and choose a career in the environmental field.

      Winners will receive additional points when applying to the country’s leading universities and will also be entered into the state register of citizens with outstanding abilities. This will grant them access to programs at the "Sirius" University, internships and scientific-educational projects.

      The competition is organized by the COMPASS Foundation for the Support and Development of Environmental Initiatives, the D. I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology (RKhTU), the MGRI named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze, with the support of ANO "University 2035", the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, ANO "DIALOG", and the relevant committees of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
