Ex-mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Ilya Shtokman is being transported to Moscow after his pretrial detention was extended. As the regional court's press service told NIA "Nizhny Novgorod", the Prioksky District Court extended his measure of restraint until and including 24 February 2026.
"The criminal case is being investigated by the Investigative Committee of Russia. Ilya Shtokman will be transported to Moscow," the editorial office was told.
Recall that Shtokman was detained in Sochi in September 2025. At that time the court ordered his pretrial detention for two months — until 24 November.
According to investigators, while holding a leadership position in the city administration, Shtokman received 55 million rubles for assisting a construction company. The matter concerns help in obtaining municipal contracts without tenders, as well as patronage and oversight of their implementation.
Ilya Shtokman took the post of deputy mayor of Nizhny Novgorod in 2020. In September 2022 he voluntarily went to participate in the special military operation. In August 2025 the official unexpectedly resigned.
