A student festival of national traditions, "Kaleidoscope of Cultures — the Heart of the Volga Region," was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management of the Presidential Academy. This year the event was dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Volga Federal District.

Participants showcased the wealth of traditions of Russians, Bashkirs, Komi-Permyaks, Mari, Mordvins, Tatars, Udmurts and Chuvash. Each group prepared a creative performance reflecting the features of their ethnic culture.

On stage were the dance ensemble "Medunitsa" from PIMU, students of the Volga branch of RGUP named after Lebedev, the Institute of Food Technology and Design, the Cheboksary branch of the Presidential Academy, the dance ensemble "Pioneriya," as well as representatives of the Tatar autonomy of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Institute director Ekaterina Lebedeva noted in her welcoming speech that the festival allows participants to creatively present the full wealth and variety of national cultures.

"The most important thing is that the festival was entirely organized by the students themselves! This summer law faculty student Yulia Chugunina won a grant from Rosmolodezh for this project," emphasized Ekaterina Lebedeva.

The audience greeted each performance with enthusiasm. Spectators enjoyed Udmurt, Chuvash and Mari dances, Russian and Tatar songs, as well as a dramatization of the Tatar holiday Sabantuy. A performer from Bashkortostan made a particular impression by demonstrating the unusual sound of the agas-kubyz instrument.

Student Anna Alexandrova shared that the festival was heartfelt and informative.

At the end of the concert, Ekaterina Lebedeva and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Elena Perenkova presented participants with letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts.

The festival has been held for the fifth year in a row and annually introduces audiences to the ethnocultural diversity of Russia and other countries. The project "Kaleidoscope of Cultures — the Heart of the Volga Region" is implemented with the support of Rosmolodezh.Grants.
