The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the Nizhny Novgorod Region have agreed to expand their cooperation. The ceremonial signing of the agreement took place on 15 November in Nizhny Novgorod, at the Volga-Vyatka branch of the museum — in the "Arsenal" space.
The document was signed by the region’s deputy governor Oleg Berkovich and the director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Olga Galaktionova, the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
The agreement is for three years with the possibility of automatic renewal. It envisages the development of a strategic partnership between the region and the country’s largest art institution, as well as the implementation of joint initiatives in the fields of culture, art and public education.
According to Oleg Berkovich, cooperation with the Pushkin Museum will become an important stage in the development of the region’s cultural infrastructure. He recalled successful joint projects that attracted great public interest.
"Now we are moving to a new level — forming a systematic and strategic partnership. I am confident that joint exhibitions and educational initiatives will give a new impetus to the region’s cultural life and bring art closer to people," Berkovich said.
Under the agreement, the parties plan to hold exhibitions, cultural events, educational programs, scientific conferences, seminars, round tables and creative meetings in the region. The implementation of a number of joint cultural projects is also envisaged.
Museum director Olga Galaktionova emphasized the significance of the Nizhny Novgorod venue: "There are almost no exhibition spaces as amazing as this, and they should be used. The Nizhny Novgorod 'Arsenal' is not just a branch of the Pushkin Museum, it is the Pushkin Museum."
Earlier it was reported that Gleb Nikitin and Vladimir Mashkov discussed the anniversary of the Union of Theatre Workers during a meeting.
