In 2025, investigators in Nizhny Novgorod referred 133 anti-corruption cases to court.

      15 November 2025 17:18 Incidents The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region summed up its work for the period from January to October 2025. An operational meeting was held under the leadership of the head of the department, Ayrat Akhmetshin, with the participation of the heads of territorial departments and staff members of the apparatus. This was reported by the department's press service.

      During the meeting it was noted that over 2,400 criminal cases were opened in the 10 months — roughly every second report of a crime received by the department.

      Special attention was paid to solving crimes from previous years. Together with the internal affairs bodies it was possible to establish the circumstances of 63 such crimes. Materials in 53 of them have already been sent to court.

      A significant emphasis was also placed on combating corruption. 133 criminal cases have been sent to court, within which 224 corruption crimes were investigated. These results became possible thanks to cooperation with the FSB Directorate and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      At the end of the meeting Ayrat Akhmetshin outlined priority tasks for the investigative units until the end of 2025 and for the first quarter of 2026.
