Hockey players of the Nizhny Novgorod club "Start" suffered their second defeat in the Russian Bandy Super League championship. In an away match of the second round the team lost to Arkhangelsk's "Vodnik" by 2:6.
According to the club's press service on social media, the first half was a tight contest. Nizhny Novgorod goalkeeper Yury Ivanchikov saved a penalty taken by Vodnik captain Evgeny Dergayev, but shortly afterward the hosts went ahead.
Two goals were scored against their former team by ex-Start players now playing for the Arkhangelsk club — Pavel Pozhilov and Andrey Dolgikh. Thus, by halftime the score was 2:0 in favor of Vodnik.
In the second half the Nizhny Novgorod side tried to reduce the deficit. Goals were scored by Vyacheslav Vdovenko and Denis Igoshin, but that proved insufficient to save the match. The Arkhangelsk side kept increasing their advantage and secured a convincing victory.
Start will play their next game (6+) on November 22 in Kirov, where they will face the local team "Rodina."
Recall that in the first round of the Super League Start lost to "Dynamo."
