Medical professionals from Nizhny Novgorod are learning from the experience of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
A delegation from the Nizhny Novgorod Region headed by Deputy Governor Andrey Checherin visited Krasnoyarsk Krai on a working trip to study the experience of implementing a quality management system in healthcare. The delegation included the region’s Minister of Health Galina Mikhailova, her deputy Tatyana Kovalenko, and the heads of seven medical institutions.
As part of the visit, Nizhny Novgorod specialists familiarized themselves with the organization of work at five leading medical organizations in Krasnoyarsk Krai. At the oncology dispensary they were shown the centralized drug preparation department, the admissions department, the palliative care unit, and a simulation classroom. Special attention was paid to the work of surgical departments and to the project of schools for cancer patients.
At Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Clinical Hospital No. 4 the delegation was shown the system for providing emergency and planned medical care, the work of the gynecology department, and the site for the future assisted reproductive technologies center.
The Nizhny Novgorod delegates also visited the Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health, including the perinatal center, the department for pathology of newborns and premature infants, the Regional Children’s Hospital, the admissions department, an MRI scanner and a cryobank. At the Center for Rehabilitation of Children and Persons with Disabilities the specialists assessed modern medical equipment.
The visit program included visits to Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Polyclinic No. 5 and the Regional Clinical Hospital. During the trip a working meeting was held with Deputy Chairman of the Government of Krasnoyarsk Krai Alexey Medvedev. He instructed regional specialists to organize a reciprocal visit to the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Galina Mikhailova, Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that the visit took place at the recommendation of Russia’s Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, who had previously visited the region. According to her, Krasnoyarsk Krai’s experience in standardizing medical processes will be useful for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Andrey Checherin reported that Krasnoyarsk colleagues showed interest in Nizhny Novgorod projects for territorial planning, including “Health Quarter,” “City of Health,” “Family Quarter,” as well as the initiative to create interdistrict medical centers and the “Onkoincident” project.
Work to improve the quality of medical care is being carried out within the framework of the national project “Long and Active Life,” launched in the country in 2025 at the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The project aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and provides for the renovation of medical institutions, recruitment of personnel, the development of prevention and diagnosis of chronic diseases, improvement of emergency care, and the digitalization of the sector.
