In Nizhny Novgorod on November 8 the fourth city environmental campaign (0+) for the collection of worn car tires will take place. On that day city residents will be able to drop off tires unfit for further use at specially equipped sites.
Collection will be organized from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at two locations: on the surface parking lot of the Zhar-Ptitsa shopping and entertainment center on the side of Sovetskaya Square, and in the parking lot of the TRC Sedmoe Nebo — opposite the entrance to the shopping complex, just past the Maksidom store.
Accepted are passenger car tires without valve stems, including studded tires. It will also be possible to hand over truck tires with a diameter of no more than 1,200 millimeters.
The first participants in the campaign will receive small sweet gifts.
Organizers remind that painted and heavily soiled tires, tire products in the form of garden figures and art objects, as well as agricultural tires with a diameter greater than 1,200 millimeters and solid polyurethane wheels from forklifts, carts and other special equipment should not be brought.
According to the organizers, improperly disposed tires cause serious environmental harm: in landfills they release toxic substances that contaminate soil and water bodies. All tires collected during the campaign will be handed over to a company specializing in rubber recycling. The recycled material is used, in particular, in the production of road materials.
As a result of previous similar events, residents of Nizhny Novgorod have already collected over 15.5 tonnes of old tires sent for recycling.
Detailed information about the campaign has been posted on the organizers' social networks https://vk.com/ekostolica and https://t.me/ecologicthinking.
It was previously reported that recycling collection points will continue to operate in Nizhny Novgorod with the support of regional authorities.
