Representatives of the animal protection group "Zoopatrol NN" expressed concern over the placement of insulated dog houses for stray dogs near a playground in the Lesnoy Gorodok microdistrict of Nizhny Novgorod. According to activists, such proximity could pose a threat both to children and to the animals themselves.
On Telegram, animal rights activist Lara Saplina said that such actions could provoke the formation of a pack, which in turn becomes a reason for aggression from dog hunters.
"Why do dogs form a pack later? They are protecting their place. And why do dog hunters then poison dogs, scatter poison near playgrounds? Because the thoughtless volunteers themselves create such conditions for the animals that lead to their death," Saplina fumed.
She said it was recently reported that dog houses had been placed right next to the sandbox on a playground. The activist reminded that such cases have repeatedly been the subject of television reports that recounted the poisoning of animals in similar locations.
"Please find a safer place for feeding. This will help preserve both children's safety and the well‑being of the animals," the volunteers said.
Earlier it was reported that free sessions with a canine trainer are being held for young Nizhny Novgorod residents and their pets in all districts of the city.
