The Nizhny Novgorod region will be allocated 6.4 billion rubles for the modernization of housing and utilities.

October 30, 2025 17:19 Economics The Government Commission for Regional Development of the Russian Federation, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, approved the allocation of a treasury infrastructure loan of 6.4 billion rubles to Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. The funds will be used to implement a large-scale project to upgrade housing and communal services systems.

Financing is provided under the project to modernize utilities infrastructure in the Nizhny Novgorod agglomeration. It includes the planned reconstruction of a water supply line in the area of Rodionova Street and the Podnovye Sloboda, as well as the upgrading of a sewer collector on Kerchenskaya and Proletarskaya streets.

In addition, the project will involve the construction of four new boiler houses in the settlements of Novinki, Olgino and on Vaneev Street. Reconstruction of water supply and wastewater systems in the urban district of Bor is also planned.

Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Gleb Nikitin stressed the importance of the project for the region:

"The aim of these transformations is to increase the reliability of communal infrastructure in the region's key settlements. This is a matter of comfort and safety for hundreds of thousands of residents. We also expect to attract an additional 2.75 billion rubles through infrastructure renewal programs of resource-supplying organizations," the head of the region said.

Marat Khusnullin gave a positive assessment of the region's work in infrastructure modernization, noting that Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is among the regions that effectively implement such programs.

"We continue systematic work on allocating treasury infrastructure loans. New applications from Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Karelia have been approved. The total amount of financing will be 19.8 billion rubles. These projects directly affect citizens' quality of life and regional development," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He also emphasized that implementing such initiatives requires coordinated work by regional teams, and the ultimate goal is the prompt improvement of living conditions for residents.

Earlier it was reported that Marat Khusnullin singled out Nizhny Novgorod Oblast among the regions where the quality of communal services significantly improved after modernization.
