Malefactors created a fake account posing as the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Yuri Arsentyev. This was reported on his Telegram channel by Alexey Trifonov — a retired police colonel and a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to him, the scammers are sending fake documents to retirees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, convincing them to take part in a so‑called "operational game." Under the pretext of fighting corruption in the police, the fraudsters are trying to draw trusting citizens into a dangerous scheme.

As Trifonov explained, the criminals’ ultimate goal is most likely to gain access to personal accounts on the government services portal, to take out online loans, or to obtain powers of attorney to manage bank accounts. This could lead to victims being involved in so‑called "dropper" schemes — illegal financial operations carried out in someone else’s name.
Trifonov strongly recommends that residents of Nizhny Novgorod do not respond to such messages and calls. He urges them under no circumstances to disclose SMS codes, to avoid issuing powers of attorney, and not to hand over their personal data to strangers.

It was reported that the scammers attempted to trick people using the name of NGIAMZ director Yuri Filippov.
Also, recall that a fake decree of the governor was uncovered in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
