Nizhny Novgorod doctors helped a patient cope with the severe consequences of a viper bite, reports chief editor of MIA "Stacionar-Press" Aleksey Nikonov.
The woman sought medical help after the snake bit her on the palm. Over time, dense vascular rashes began to appear on the skin, which spread up the arm to the shoulder.
As Ella Mazaeva, a dermato-venereologist at the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the GNCDK of the Russian Ministry of Health, said, such a reaction of the body may be related to the hemolytic action of the venom. Although such cases are uncommon, individual sensitivity to toxins is quite possible.
Doctors began treatment using high-intensity pulsed light, which partially reduced the prominence of the vascular pattern on the skin. However, the recovery process is not yet complete, and the patient continues therapy.
