Young people in the Nizhny Novgorod Region can use the "Drugoe Delo" project's guide to adult life.

The "Drugoe Delo" project of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities" has launched a navigator for adult life — the special project "What to Do Next?". It will help upper secondary school students, college applicants, students of the Nizhny Novgorod region and anyone who wants to close gaps in everyday knowledge to understand key areas: how to organize life at home, manage money wisely, build healthy communication and deal with documents needed by an active citizen. You can take part in the special project until November 26.

"What to Do Next?" gives practical answers to everyday questions in a format that is clear to young people. The special project covers four directions. The first block, "Documents," teaches participants what to pay attention to when signing an employment contract, how to use the Gosuslugi portal services, how to safely rent housing, how to write a resume with no experience, what INN and SNILS are, how to get a driver's license and how to apply for an international passport. The second block, "Home," shows participants how to adopt eco-habits, what to do in case of fire or flooding, how to understand the abbreviations on utility bills, and how to organize order in the kitchen and in nutrition. The "Money" block will help strengthen financial literacy: saving methods from scratch and "game piggy banks," techniques for mindful spending, steps to build a financial safety cushion, and guidance on choosing a tax regime — individual entrepreneur (IE) or self-employment. Finally, the "People" block contains instruction cards on how to build useful contacts and personal boundaries, say "no" without guilt, resolve conflicts without stress, use the "I-messages" technique, observe digital etiquette and cope with impostor syndrome.

"The special project 'What to Do Next?' turns questions into actions: checklists, video instructions, exercises, and you are already managing the household and finances, quickly finding answers to pressing everyday tasks. We made the format playful and simple, and existing infrastructure and services will point to where to turn and how to solve everything reliably — you just need to know where to look for answers," said Gennady Guryanov, First Deputy General Director of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities."

The initiators of the navigator "What to Do Next?" were 17 winners of the third season of the flagship special project of "Drugoe Delo," "Always Ready!". During the off-site program the young people proposed creating a convenient guide to help young people adapt to adult life more quickly. It is an instruction manual that will help you learn to understand bills and prepare simple but healthy meals, submit documents, find and rent housing for the first time, budget a scholarship, write your first resume and much more.

Among the authors of the special project from the Nizhny Novgorod region were two members of the project group from the off-site session "Always Ready!" 2024: Olga Makarova, a pupil at Secondary School No. 9 with advanced study of selected subjects in Pavlovo, and Elena Gnidina, a student at Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky.

"The idea for the special project 'What to Do Next?' arose from observing how many young people face the same difficulties when they start independent life. They feel bewildered when they have to deal with domestic or financial issues that are not taught at school and are not always explained in detail at home. The idea came as a realization of this gap in education and the need to give young people a 'point of support' for a confident start. I consider the special project 'What to Do Next?' important for modern youth for several reasons: the project offers structured and verified information in key areas, knowledge of how to correctly pay, arrange or build healthy relationships reduces anxiety. The project not only informs but also develops practical skills. It helps make conscious and responsible decisions, and thanks to the cards and videos you can learn anytime, anywhere," Olga Makarova shared.

Participants in the special project "What to Do Next?" who complete at least five tasks will have a chance to become winners and win prizes including: a smartphone, wireless headphones, portable speakers, "smart" speakers with clocks, film cameras, as well as suitcases with branded "Drugoe Delo" merchandise. The results of the special project will be summed up on November 29; 38 people will be declared winners.

"What to Do Next?" is another positive example of the self-realization of winners of initiatives of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities." This initiative not only received the right to be implemented; I am sure it will become a digital handbook for schoolchildren, applicants and students of Russian vocational and higher education institutions," emphasized Darya Mikaelyan, Head of the Digital Projects Department of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities."

The development program "Drugoe Delo" of the federal project "Russia — Land of Opportunities" operates within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children." The program was launched in June 2021. More than 7.5 million participants from 89 regions of Russia have joined it.
