Torpedo-Gorky finishes its home series unbeaten.

      Sport. Torpedo-Gorky hockey players defeated Voronezh’s Buran in the final game of their home series. The match ended 2-0.

      In the first period the Nizhny Novgorod side controlled the puck, but dangerous moments were rare.

      On the 19th minute the hosts opened the scoring. Ruslan Gazizov and Nikita Artamonov created an attack that saw Daniil Ilyin beat Buran’s goalkeeper with a precise shot — 1-0.

      After the break Torpedo-Gorky were shorthanded but defended successfully. Soon Dmitry Kosmachev’s charges increased their lead. Ilyin passed to Artamonov — 2-0.

      The score remained unchanged in the third period. Torpedo-Gorky’s goalkeeper Lorens Zinaddin stopped all 30 shots and recorded his first shutout of the season.

      With 25 points, the Nizhny Novgorod team sit in 6th place in the standings.

      Now the Russian champions head out on the road. The team’s next match (6+) will be on October 27 in Khanty-Mansiysk against Yugra.

      Earlier it was reported that Chaika failed to extend their ten-game winning streak.
