The City Duma supported the transfer of 50 apartments for orphans into municipal ownership.

      October 22, 2025, 15:02 Politics: The City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod at its last session approved sending a proposal to the Ministry of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region to transfer 50 apartments from state ownership to municipal ownership. This was reported by a correspondent of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod".

      As stated in the explanatory note to the draft decision, the apartments are intended for orphans and children left without parental care. The initiator of the transfer was the regional Ministry of Social Policy.

      All apartments were preliminarily inspected by representatives of the city administration and the ministry and were deemed suitable for transfer.

      It is noted that adopting the decision will not require amendments to the city budget. The budget already provides funds for the repair of apartments in which orphans live, as well as for providing them with housing.

      The administration has been instructed to send the approved decision to the regional Ministry of Social Policy for further consideration and the preparation of documents for the transfer of the property.

      Earlier it was reported that orphans in Kstovo will retain compensatory housing payments after the merger with Nizhny Novgorod.
