In the Kulebaki urban district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, work has been completed on repairing two sections of the Vladimir–Murom–Arzamas highway. Their total length is almost 28 km — making this the largest project in the region’s road repair program this year, the Main Directorate of Highways of the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

The work was carried out as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” and aimed to bring a key transport artery connecting major cities in two regions up to regulatory standards. On stretches where the pavement had significantly deteriorated over years of use, the contractor performed a full range of works, including restoration of the base, laying of a new asphalt concrete surface, renewal of road markings and improvement of the road shoulders.

Completion of the repairs on this section has increased road safety and comfort and reduced travel time for thousands of motorists, including public transport.

The quality of the work performed is under constant oversight not only by regional authorities and technical supervision but also by the public.

“This year large-scale road works are being carried out in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and their quality is subject to special scrutiny. If you notice that a recently repaired road has fallen into disrepair, contact the people’s inspectors; together with them we will find the contractors and the identified violations will be remedied under warranty,” said Sergey Kuzin, moderator of the Nizhny Novgorod thematic platform “Safe Quality Roads” of the All-Russia People’s Front.

Road repairs in the Nizhny Novgorod Region are being carried out under the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” which was initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide citizens with modern infrastructure. The project consists of 11 federal projects, which partly continue the previously implemented national projects “Safe Quality Roads,” “Housing and Urban Environment” and government programs of the Russian Federation. They are aimed, among other things, at developing road construction, housing and communal services, ensuring road safety, and developing public passenger transport.
