Traffic jams rated 9 out of 10 formed in Nizhny Novgorod on the evening of October 22.

      In the evening of October 22, Nizhny Novgorod came to a standstill in traffic. Heavy rain and rush hour triggered a transport collapse. According to the Yandex.Maps service, road congestion reached 9 points out of 10 possible.

      The situation was especially severe in the city center. By 17:40 traffic had practically ground to a halt on Belinskogo, Vaneeva, Rozhdestvenskaya, Varvarskaya and Osharskaya streets. Gagarin Avenue, the Oksky exit toward Lyadov Square, the Kazansky exit, and Timiryazeva Street were also at a standstill.

      No better conditions were observed on the Myzinsky Bridge, Komsomolsky, Ankudinovsky, Sormovsky and Moskovskoye highways. They are also shown in dark maroon on the online map.

      In addition, several traffic accidents occurred in different parts of the city. Accidents were recorded on Poltavskaya, Rodionova, Vaneeva streets and on the Moskovskoye highway.

      The situation is further complicated by rain, which, according to the forecast, will not end until tomorrow.

      It was previously reported that heavy trucks will be banned from entering the historic part of Nizhny Novgorod.
