Doctors at PIMU are fighting to save the lives of teenage train-hoppers with severe burns.
22 October 2025 16:25 Society Two teenage "train surfers" from Voronezh and Stavropol were brought to the intensive care unit of the PIMU Burn Center. Their condition was reported by Artem Pushkin, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator of the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the University Clinic of the medical university.
According to him, the 16-year-old patient was admitted with arc-flash burns covering 75% of his body surface. The 11-year-old boy had up to 90% of his body surface affected. The children sustained the injuries on October 16 and 11, respectively. After their condition was stabilized, they were transferred to Nizhny Novgorod.
The patients are currently breathing on their own and are conscious. Doctors at the PIMU Burn Center are performing dressings of the burn wounds, clarifying the depth of the injuries and determining the surgical tactics and intensive care plan.
The PIMU press service reminded that every year at least 10–15 adolescents from various regions of the country are admitted to the University Clinic's burn wards with electrical injuries sustained on railway transport. In particular, in September we reported on three "train surfers" from Kursk, Penza and Voronezh. Earlier, there were reports about four adolescents from Cheboksary.
