Active work continues in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast to detect and eliminate illegal dumps on agricultural land. This was reported by the head of the regional office of Rosselkhoznadzor for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Republic of Mari El, Yevgeny Ivanov, during a briefing on October 22, the correspondent of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reports.
Over the nine months of the current year, 11 unauthorized dumps were identified, with a total area of 9 hectares. Of these, five dumps were located on plots belonging to private individuals, three — on lands under the administration of the Voskresensky and Urensky municipal districts. Two more dumps were found on territories owned by legal entities.
To date, two dumps with a combined area of 12 hectares have been eliminated. Ivanov noted that despite preventive work, including warnings and orders, such measures do not always produce results.
"On October 15, the Rosselkhoznadzor office sent a claim to A.A. Suvorkov demanding voluntary compensation for damage caused to agricultural lands in the amount of more than 80 million rubles. When we only carry out preventive measures, issue a warning or an order to remove a dump, such measures, unfortunately, do not work on many people," the head of the agency said.
Ivanov stressed that it is precisely after an assessment of the damage and the presentation of a specific amount of loss that rights holders begin to take real steps to restore the land. In particular, they develop reclamation projects through the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIZh" in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and begin practical implementation of these projects.
Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office achieved the elimination of an illegal household waste dump in Purekh in the Chkalovsky District.
