Residents of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast registered 21,900 self-bans on obtaining loans in September 2025, the NTA-Privolzhye news agency reports, citing the National Bureau of Credit Histories. Of the total number of applications, 18,000 were filed via the Gosuslugi internet portal and another 3,900 were submitted in person at multifunctional centers (MFCs). Thus, the region ranked 11th among Russian federal subjects in the number of restrictions imposed and fourth in the Volga Federal District. The leaders in the district were Bashkortostan (32,000), Tatarstan (27,900) and Samara Oblast (22,100). In total, more than 200,000 self-bans were registered in the Volga Federal District in September.
Across Russia, 1.01 million people used the self-protection mechanism against unwanted loans in September 2025. Of them, 81.1% used online services, while 18.9% applied in person at MFCs.
Recall that the self-ban service via the Gosuslugi portal became available to Nizhny Novgorod residents in March, and since August it has been possible to set it when applying at a regional MFC office.
