A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region appealed to the Investigative Committee of Russia with a complaint about the operation of a processing workshop in the town of Bogorodsk. According to her, the facility, located literally just a few dozen meters from residential houses, has for a long time been poisoning the air with toxic emissions and disturbing residents with constant noise.
The department’s press service said the case concerns a plastic recycling workshop owned by a private company. Locals claim that its operation regularly causes a sharp chemical smell in the air, and the round‑the‑clock hum of the equipment interferes with living and resting.
Earlier, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, had already ordered a report to be prepared on this situation.
Following an initial inspection carried out by the regional office of the Investigative Committee, the materials were handed over to the police. However, Bastrykin has now instructed the acting head of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Dynkov, to open a criminal case.
Earlier it was reported that Bastrykin would be briefed on violations of the rights of residents of the dilapidated house on Gvozdilnaya Street in Nizhny Novgorod.
