Counterfeit dairy products were discovered in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      In Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, documents certifying the origin of 24.5 tonnes of dairy products produced in violation of traceability requirements have been annulled. This was reported by the Rosselkhoznadzor office for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Republic of Mari El.

      During interregional cooperation with the agency’s Northwestern Directorate, a case was uncovered of falsified production certificates for butter and Dutch cheese. The documents were issued on behalf of LLC "Ulyanovsk Processed Cheese Plant" at facilities in Saint Petersburg — LLC "Arkon Production" and LLC "Avetek".

      According to the "Mercury" system (FGIS "VetIS"), from 19 May to 25 September 2025 nearly 10,000 tonnes of dairy products were produced at these facilities from components not subject to veterinary control — water, protein concentrate and fat. At the same time, there is no record in the system confirming the safety of the products.

      Part of that production — 24.5 tonnes — was sent to a processing plant in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and used in the production of butter. The documents for it have been declared invalid.

      Recipients of the products in Nizhny Novgorod, Tver and Voronezh oblasts and in Udmurtia, including socially significant institutions, were promptly notified of the need to take measures to prevent products of unknown origin from entering circulation. The products are currently being withdrawn.

      Earlier it was reported that a consignment of illegal dairy products weighing a total of 5.1 tonnes was seized in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
