      Activists of the "Social District Officer" project held a large-scale master class on making trench candles. About 500 people from various districts of the Volga region capital and the region joined the initiative.

      The main venue of the humanitarian event operated at School No. 190 in the Avtozavodsky district. Teachers and students turned to the social district officers for assistance with organization, and the project team provided comprehensive support.

      The event was attended by Alexey Generalov, Deputy Minister of Internal Regional and Municipal Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region; Alexander Nagin, head of the Avtozavodsky district administration; and Kirill Kartashev, a deputy of the City Duma and coordinator of the "Social District Officer" project.

      The activists demonstrated how trench candles are made and provided participants with all the necessary materials.

      "The duty of the home front is to help and support the fighters. We hold such events constantly; the team of social district officers are our reliable allies. Today what was conceived as an initiative of a single school has spread across the entire regional capital and the municipalities of the region," Alexander Nagin told the participants.

      Among the most anticipated guests was an SMO veteran and participant in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program, Dmitry S. He stressed the importance of such aid: "A trench candle is really needed by the fighters: for heating, for drying clothes, and for warming food. All this affects health and combat capability."

      An online broadcast of the master class was organized for schools and territorial public self-government bodies (TOS) of Nizhny Novgorod and the region's municipalities. On the ground, social district officers helped and coordinated the work.

      "We always write wishes on the candles that are sent to our soldiers in the SMO zone. We are sure it warms their hearts, and it warms us to be able to help," said project activist Irina Vaulina.

      Each participant made at least one trench candle. All items will be included in the humanitarian shipment and delivered to the fighters in the SMO zone.

      It should be added that the event was held with the support of the Ministry of Internal Regional and Municipal Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the ANO "House of National Unity."

      Background:

      "Social District Officer" is a public project launched in 2023 at the initiative of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin. It covers Nizhny Novgorod, including Kstovo, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas and Bogorodsk. Since its inception, the project has organized over 800 events. Particular attention is paid to supporting the SMO, as well as the families of veterans and participants.
