A 16-year-old Romani girl from Nizhny Novgorod died in Mytishchi under strange circumstances. The high-profile story of the girl's tragic death was the subject of an episode of the program "Let Them Talk" (16+) on Channel One, which aired on October 13.
According to relatives, the girl died just before her wedding. Her body was found near the entrance to an apartment building, on the asphalt, in a wedding dress. Her family is convinced she did not commit suicide but was the victim of a crime.
Witnesses, experts, journalists and the deceased's relatives gathered in the program's studio. They tried to work out the circumstances of the tragedy and discussed possible versions of what happened.
The deceased's father — the nephew of Boris Buryatze, known as the "Gypsy prince," who at one time had a romantic relationship with Leonid Brezhnev's daughter — also gave his point of view. The man said the family had repeatedly received threats.
The girl's mother appealed for help to the Public Council under the Interior Ministry department for Nizhny Novgorod. On air, the council's responsible secretary, ataman of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of VBKV, Oleg Pikunov, spoke.
"Close relatives turned to me with a request for protection. According to them, they were constantly being threatened. I accepted the statement and forwarded it to the head of the city Interior Ministry directorate, Colonel Oleg Vyacheslavovich Sokolov. The case is now under his personal supervision. The girl's mother reported that after appealing to the police and to us the threats stopped. We continue to monitor the situation," Pikunov said.
Earlier on the program they discussed the high-profile murder of Nizhny Novgorod violinist Natalia Maurer, in which Moscow doctor Alexey Pashtaev is suspected.
