In Nizhny Novgorod universities the basic academic scholarship for students is about 3,200 rubles. This conclusion was made by the portal "Zhivyom v Nizhnem", which analyzed data from university orders and press releases.
Students of Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University receive a scholarship of 2,900 rubles in the first semester. Those who showed outstanding results in Olympiads or scored high on the Unified State Exam (EGE) are eligible for increased scholarships—from 10,000 to 15,000 rubles.
Freshmen at Nizhny Novgorod Technical University (Polytechnic) will receive 3,120 rubles in the first semester. After the first exam period their scholarship may be increased, and straight-A students can expect payments of up to 6,230 rubles.
At Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU) the basic scholarship is 3,570 rubles. Students who scored 100 points on one of the exams can expect a scholarship of 10,000 rubles.
Students of the Volga University of Water Transport studying on a state-funded basis can receive a high state academic scholarship of 5,400 rubles.
At the Linguistic University the basic scholarship for freshmen is 2,224 rubles. If the exam session is passed with "good" and "excellent" grades, one can expect between 2,700 and 4,045 rubles. Increased scholarships are available to students with high personal achievements: from 100 to 150 points — 10,000 rubles, 151 to 200 points — 12,000 rubles, 201 to 250 points — 13,000 rubles, 251 points and above — 16,000 rubles.
The Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PIMU) offers a basic scholarship of 3,000 rubles.
Even the highest scholarship cannot fully cover the expenses of a student living away from parents. However, it can partially offset basic costs: dormitory accommodation (on average 970 rubles), a discounted student travel card for 60 rides (600 rubles) and mobile phone service (on average 680 rubles).
