A large-scale environmental campaign, "Save the Forest," took place in the Shatkovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. On nearly 5 hectares, more than 20,000 young pine saplings were planted. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Forestry.

The campaign was attended by representatives of the authorities, the environmental prosecutor’s office, forestry workers, volunteers and students of the school forestry "Rostok." The event was attended by the Minister of Forestry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Roman Vorobyov, as well as the deputy chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly, Andrey Tarasov.

Roman Vorobyov emphasized the importance of forests for the region, noting their role as a source of health, harmony and inspiration. He also expressed hope that such campaigns would attract more and more residents of the region, demonstrating their active civic stance and responsibility to future generations.

The "Save the Forest" campaign is part of the national project "Environmental Well-Being," which is aimed at restoring forest stands and improving the environmental situation in the country. The Nizhny Novgorod Region has been actively participating in this project since 2019, and during this time more than 10 million trees have been planted. More than 12,000 people have taken part in the campaigns.

Andrey Tarasov noted that engaging young people and volunteers in forest restoration is an important step. He expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the campaign participants will yield positive results and that the planted pines will grow into healthy trees.

The organizers of the campaign — the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "Garden of Memory" and the all‑Russian ecological movement "Ecosystem" — operate with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and the Federal Forestry Agency. In 2025, the state corporation "Rosatom" joined the campaign.

Anyone can join the "Save the Forest" campaign. Information about planting locations and participation conditions can be found on the campaign’s official website: https://сохранимлес.рф.
