HC Torpedo-Gorky lost heavily to Novokuznetsk's Metallurg.

      Hockey players of Torpedo-Gorky suffered a heavy defeat in an away game against Novokuznetsk's Metallurg. The match ended 7:3 in favor of the home team.

      The team from Nizhny Novgorod took the ice with an updated lineup. Forwards Ilya Chefanov and Nikita Artamonov, who arrived from the main Torpedo club, joined the core group. They replaced Nikita Blednov and Makar Opolinsky on the roster. Ilya Bochkov missed the game due to injury — his spot was taken by Ilya Zharkov. The captain's armband was temporarily passed to Daniil Ilyin. Dmitry Dagestansky took the starting goaltender position.

      The first period was full of penalties and controversial moments. In the 17th minute Metallurg scored, but after a video review the referees disallowed the goal — the coach's challenge by the Gorky staff for offside was upheld. Moments later the Nizhny Novgorod side went on the power play, but made a costly mistake in their zone, which Vladislav Kodola capitalized on — 1:0.

      In the second period Torpedo-Gorky again enjoyed a numerical advantage and this time converted it. After a shot by Nikolai Mayorov, Matvey Utkin scored on the rebound — 1:1. However, shortly after the visitors were shorthanded, and Nikita Guslistov put Metallurg back in front — 2:1.

      By the middle of the game the Nizhny Novgorod side conceded two more goals — Dmitry Sokolov and Zakhar Shablovsky found the net. After that goaltender Dmitry Dagestansky was replaced by Lorens Zinaddin, but he also could not stop the opponent's onslaught. Vladislav Kodola completed a hat-trick, adding two more goals before the break. The lone reply from the Gorky side in the second stanza was a precise shot by Sergey Odinokov. On the scoreboard — 6:2.

      The third twenty minutes were less productive. In the 45th minute Daniil Apalkov made it 7:2, provoking a loud reaction from the stands. Nevertheless, the last word in the match belonged to the Nizhny Novgorod side — Roman Opalev converted a power play, setting the final score at 7:3.

      Torpedo-Gorky's road trip will conclude with a match against Dynamo-Altai. The game will be held on October 13 in Barnaul.
