Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin congratulated workers of the agro-industrial complex, who on October 12 celebrate their professional holiday — the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers. He noted that this day is a symbol of our pride in the achievements and successes in this important sector.
Under sanctions and in the absence of imported seeds, spare parts and equipment, the domestic industry, contrary to Western expectations, not only survives but demonstrates impressive results. This year the grain harvest amounted to 1.7 million tonnes, which, although less than record levels, is a significant achievement; we are self-sufficient in potatoes and vegetables and are actively developing meat and dairy livestock farming.
"Have you seen the new farms with as many computers as on a spaceship? There the milk yields are out of this world. The regional average over eight months — almost 6 tonnes per cow. In Soviet times they would have awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor for that, and now it's the norm," emphasized the speaker of the Legislative Assembly, adding that thanks to the efforts of processors, store shelves delight with a variety of products.
Evgeny Lyulin said that this week he visited the "Golden Autumn" exhibition in Moscow, where people were lining up for products from the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Even in pampered Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod goods are in demand. In a grocery store on Lubyanka he was pleased to see Nizhny Novgorod milk, meat and cheeses.
"And how eagerly Nizhny Novgorod ice cream, mayonnaise, sauces and honey are awaited in China and India! They've sampled them, and now export volumes are growing," said the chairman of the Legislative Assembly.
He recalled times when the countryside had neither decent wages nor prospects for development — and today the situation has changed radically. More than a hundred investment projects are at the implementation stage, and investors see potential in the agro-industrial complex, which is successfully meeting their expectations despite difficulties with import substitution and a high key rate.
"There have always been problems. The agro-industrial sector has never been easy. Deep respect to all who engage in agricultural work! To crop growers, livestock farmers, vegetable growers! To processors! Friends, your work inspires confidence in the country's future!" said Evgeny Lyulin.
