The Abramovskaya Rural Library in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast has been upgraded to the model standard.

October 9, 2025, 15:58 Culture and Leisure In the village of Abramovo in the Arzamas urban district of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, a library updated to the model standard has opened; its re-equipment was carried out within the framework of the national project "Family." This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The Abramovo rural library was founded in 1897 and is one of the oldest libraries in the district. Special attention is paid here to the study and promotion of the work of Arzamas poets and writers, and since 2015 the library has borne the name of the poet and war veteran, native of the village Abramovo, Alexander Plotnikov.

"The library is located in the village's House of Culture, where a children's art school also operates, around two dozen clubs and amateur associations are active, and there is a workshop of the crafts center. All together they form a full-fledged cultural cluster in demand not only by the residents of Abramovo but also by neighboring settlements," noted Natalya Sukhanova, Minister of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

About 8 million rubles from the federal budget were allocated for the library's re-equipment to the model standard within the framework of the national project. Thanks to this, a waiting area was equipped, which includes shelves for book exchange, as well as space for exhibitions.

The library's area is small, but the new equipment and furniture will help organize a multifunctional space for readers of different ages. Interactive modules, including an interactive floor, hardware-software complexes, and equipment for creating animated films, will interest younger schoolchildren, and high-quality multimedia equipment will allow mass events to be taken to a new level. In addition, new editions have been added to the library's collection, including works by classical and contemporary authors, encyclopedias and reference books, as well as poetry collections.

"Participation in the national project 'Family', support from the regional Ministry of Culture and our unequivocal priority for libraries have allowed us to rethink the institution's infrastructure and increase the library's holdings by almost 4,500 volumes. The Abramovo House of Culture, which houses the library, has also begun a new life over the past three years. You can feel the staff's hard work and the villagers' affection," said Arzamas Mayor Alexander Shchelokov.

At the moment, this is already the fourth library in the Arzamas urban district to be re-equipped to the model standard. It should be recalled that earlier, within the framework of the national project "Culture," libraries in Chernukha and Vyezdnoye were re-equipped, and at the beginning of 2025 the A.P. Gaidar Children's Library opened in Arzamas, becoming a model library funded by the regional budget. In addition, the Abramovo rural library became the 55th model library to open in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Recall that in 2025, at the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin, new national projects were launched in the country. Cultural activities were included in the federal project "Family Values and Cultural Infrastructure" of the national project "Family." These include measures for re-equipping cinemas, municipal libraries, regional and municipal theaters and museums, "Pushkin Card" initiatives and a number of new measures. In general, the national project "Family" is aimed at supporting and developing family values, creating comfortable conditions for forming healthy and happy families. The main goal of the new national project is for every family in Russia to have the opportunity to realize its potential, ensuring the harmonious development of all its members.
