      A fatal road accident occurred in the Pilninsky district on the morning of October 9, the press service of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (UGIBDD) for the Nizhny Novgorod region reported.

      According to preliminary information, a 22-year-old driver of a Lada Priora, traveling on the highway toward Moscow from Kazan, fell asleep at the wheel. As a result, the car sideswiped a BMW that was moving in the same direction.

      After the impact the Priora crashed into a guardrail and overturned.

      The driver died at the scene before medics arrived. An investigation is underway.

      Earlier it was reported that in the Voskresensky district an intoxicated man got behind the wheel and crashed into a tree. His 8-year-old daughter was killed in the crash.
