Rumors circulated on social networks and in some media that border guards were refusing to let tourists leave whose passports had data entered not in the strictly designated fields but partially over labels such as "Sex," "Citizenship," and "Date of issue." However, these reports proved to be unfounded, 360.ru found. The official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk, said that information about technical defects in the passports is not true.
"Federal Law No. 212-FZ of 13.06.2023 provides an exhaustive list of grounds for the invalidity of a foreign passport and its seizure from a citizen. Note that the peculiarities in filling in the document fields cited in the media as a technical error are not such a reason," she emphasized, adding that this year the police have not received any appeals or complaints from citizens on these matters.
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia also confirmed that no mass refusals to depart due to such problems have been recorded. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
