A former Nizhny Novgorod police officer received a pit bike as a bribe from teenagers.

      Court proceedings have begun in the Sormovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod against a former police officer accused of taking a bribe. This was reported by the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      The investigative department for the Sormovsky District has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a former inspector of the Road Patrol Service (OB DPS) of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs directorate for Nizhny Novgorod. He is charged with the crime under part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — acceptance of a bribe by an official.

      According to the investigation, on 16 July 2025 the inspector, acting as an official, found that minors had violated parking rules near a shopping center and, in order not to draw up a vehicle detention report, not to send the vehicle to an impound lot and not to subject them to administrative penalties, accepted a bribe in the form of a pit bike worth more than 80,000 rubles.

      The collected body of evidence has been deemed sufficient. The criminal case, with an approved indictment, has been sent to court for substantive consideration.
