Lifts will connect the Chernigovskaya Embankment with the IT campus in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Preparations have begun in Nizhny Novgorod for the construction of cable lifts that will connect the Chernigovskaya Embankment with the upper part of the city in the area of the IT campus.

      Regional authorities have allocated 7.1 million rubles for pre-design work. According to information from the public procurement portal, the contract was signed with the joint-stock company "Urbantech Ropeways." The company was the sole bidder in the procurement, and its submitted bid met the established requirements.

      The contractor is to develop an architectural and planning concept, assess the projected passenger flow, and prepare the technical specifications for further design and survey work.

      Possible sites for station placement include the plot at 42 Garshina Street, the area near 1 Shevchenko Street, as well as locations on Chernigovskaya Street and at 10 Maksim Gorky Street.

      Under the contract, the project must include creating a bright and memorable image of the technical solution that will become a recognizable city landmark and harmoniously fit into the landscape and surrounding architecture. Designers must also take into account the site's ecological characteristics and ensure the future facility's energy efficiency, aesthetics, safety, and accessibility.

      Additionally, the contractor must forecast passenger flow for 25 years ahead (starting from 2027) and determine the most appropriate fare for operating the lifts.

      All work is planned to be completed by December 22, 2025.

      Recall that the ceremonial opening of the IT campus took place in Nizhny Novgorod in September 2025.
