Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region were invited to take part in the large-scale forum "Creative Code. Russia" (16+), which will be held for the first time in St. Petersburg on October 9–10. The organizers expect delegations from across the country, including representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The forum will become a key platform for discussing the prospects for developing the creative economy and for devising solutions aimed at achieving the national goal — increasing the share of creative industries in the gross domestic product to 6% by 2030.

According to Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Tatyana Ilyushnikova, the creative sector in Russia is growing at a rate four times faster than the overall economy. However, as she noted, the potential of this sector is still not fully revealed.

"The President of Russia has set a strategic task — to strengthen the contribution of the creative industries to the development of the national economy. To achieve this, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is carrying out systematic work: it is forming a modern regulatory and legal framework, helping regions develop support infrastructure for creative businesses, and implementing tools that enable entrepreneurs to realize their ideas. The forum 'Creative Code. Russia' will become our main annual platform for dialogue with business and the regions," Ilyushnikova emphasized.

One of the central elements of the forum’s cultural program will be an installation in the atrium of the Lakhta Center. The architectural project was developed by Sergey Meshalkin together with students and young specialists as part of a creative laboratory.

The business part of the forum will include participation by representatives of federal and regional authorities, leaders of the largest companies, state corporations and industry associations. At the plenary session, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia will present the strategy for developing the creative industries.

The discussion program will cover 16 areas of the creative economy: from folk arts and crafts, handicrafts and the arts to fashion, gastronomy, architecture, design, video games, cinema, software, advertising, media and the performing arts.

Agreements on cooperation between various regions and organizations are also planned to be signed within the framework of the forum. Participants will discuss the best regional practices and exchange experiences.

The expert segment will consist of a series of events for small and medium-sized businesses. The organizers are the Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg together with the Fund for the Development of SMEs of the city.

All forum events are free, however prior registration on the event’s official website is required to participate.

Recall that the number of companies in the creative sectors in Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Region, has increased 2.5 times.
