A rare white fox was spotted in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

      In the vicinity of the town of Perevoz in the Nizhny Novgorod region, a hunting inspector spotted an unusual white fox. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the regional Ministry of Forestry and Protection of Wildlife.

      According to specialists, such a light coloration may be the result of partial albinism — a genetic anomaly in which the body produces an insufficient amount of melanin. Such individuals are extremely rare in the wild.

      However, experts suggest that the animal found is most likely not a wild fox. It is more likely a domestically bred specimen. Such foxes are often bred to be kept at home — they can be tame, react calmly to people, and even appear fully domesticated.

      Despite the animal’s appearance, specialists remind residents of the importance of keeping their distance when encountering wild animals. They should not be fed — such behavior can lead to habituation to humans, provoke dangerous situations, and attract other animals.

      “It’s better to simply observe from afar — an encounter with a fox is already a rare event in itself. If it doesn’t find food, it will most likely leave on its own,” the ministry emphasized.

      Earlier it was reported that a lynx, a fox, and a raccoon dog were seen in a Nizhny Novgorod forest.
