The former mayor of Nizhny Novgorod is fighting with his ex-wife over a shopping center.

      The police are conducting an investigation following complaints from former Nizhny Novgorod mayor Andrey Klimentyev and his ex-wife, the program "Kstati" (16+) reported.

      According to the TV journalists, the entrepreneur got into a dispute with his ex-wife over property in a shopping center. Part of the building belongs to him, part to his ex-wife Irina.

      According to Irina, her former husband repeatedly trapped people inside the building by welding the doors shut while staff were inside. The woman also claims that her ex-husband used physical force against her and threatened her, including with a flare. She filed reports with the police five times, but, she says, to no avail.

      Klimentyev himself said that his ex-wife illegally took possession of his share of the shopping center while he was in prison and has no rights to the building.

      The police confirmed that both parties filed statements. Law enforcement is trying to sort everything out.

      Recall that in 2020 Klimentyev was sentenced to four years in prison for large-scale fraud.

      Earlier, a court denied the administration’s request to demolish Andrey Klimentyev’s café in the city center.
