The process of preparing for the construction of the Eastern bypass of Nizhny Novgorod is ongoing, but a final agreement on project implementation has not yet been concluded. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the region’s Main Directorate of Motor Roads.

At present, the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region is considering two private concession initiatives. Negotiations are currently underway with potential investors on the terms of participation in the project.

According to information posted on the website of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Strategy, the new route is expected to connect the embankment of the Rowing Canal with the federal M-7 highway in the Kstovo district. The project will be implemented in stages.

In 2023, a contract was signed for the development of design and estimate documentation for the first stage of construction. This task is being carried out by the company DSK Avtoban, which is also building a parallel road to Gagarin Avenue in Nizhny Novgorod. The contract value amounted to more than 330 million rubles. The contractor is to complete the design work by February 2026.

"The timing and cost of construction will be clarified after the completion of the design and estimate documentation," the Main Directorate explained.

It was previously reported that construction of the Eastern bypass of Nizhny Novgorod could be completed in 2028.
