Four residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region were released from Ukrainian captivity on October 2. This was reported by the regional human rights commissioner, Oksana Kislytsina, on her social media page.

According to her, negotiations led to the return of 205 people in total. Of that number, four were natives of the Nizhny Novgorod region: three servicemen and one civilian.

"The negotiations were extremely difficult. It is especially important that our fellow countrymen are among those released. One of them is a civilian whom we had been waiting for for a very long time. His return required colossal efforts," Kislytsina noted.

She stressed that all those released had endured severe ordeals — threats, isolation, and psychological pressure. Despite this, they managed to return home.

Kislytsina also expressed her gratitude to the Commissioner for Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, and to the head of state, Vladimir Putin, for their attention to the fates of each citizen.

Recall that in August 2025 another Nizhny Novgorod resident returned home from Ukrainian captivity. And in July four more natives of the region were released.
