The private medical clinic "Alexandria" in Nizhny Novgorod raised prices without warning patients, a reader of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reported.

The woman said that on September 28 she booked an appointment with a gastroenterologist through the clinic's mobile app for October 2. At that time the specialist consultation cost 3,000 rubles. A day before the appointment someone contacted the patient to remind her of the visit. There was no mention that the service had become more expensive.

"Only after the appointment did the administrator state the price — 3,500 rubles. I was taken aback and asked what was going on. The woman said that prices had increased from October 1. Clinic staff were told about this on September 29," the Nizhny Novgorod resident said.

After that the patient checked the medical institution's app, but the old price was still listed there. The administrator refused to provide an order from management about the price increase or any other proof that a gastroenterologist's visit now costs 500 rubles more. The patient was offered to file a complaint, which she did.

"You know, I was so stunned by the clinic's attitude toward its patients that at first I paid for the service and only then started to sort things out. Now, having calmed down, I understand that I should have stood up for my rights, called Rospotrebnadzor and under no circumstances agreed to pay 3,500 rubles. After all, this is a large clinic chain, not a neighborhood supermarket where price tags are changed every day without notice. They could treat people more respectfully!" the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" interlocutor noted.

The editorial office contacted Alexandria's press service for comment. They apologized for the "possible inconvenience caused by the price change."

"Indeed, at the beginning of October the clinic updated the price list for some medical services. This is due to an objective increase in costs, including consumables, equipment, and raising the level of service for our patients. The update affected numerous items in the price list, and the process of synchronizing them across all information systems, including the mobile app, requires some time. We are currently completing this technical work," the clinic's representatives said.

They also added that they individually review each situation where an appointment was made at old prices but the service was provided after the change.

"For prompt resolution of all issues, we ask patients who have encountered this situation to call 280-99-01," the medical institution added.
