Volunteer in the special military operation: "I decided to go and defend the Motherland because I consider it a man's duty"

      A group of volunteers departed for the special military operation (SMO) zone from the Nizhny Novgorod contract servicemen recruitment point. Inspired by the examples of their compatriots, young people from various regions of the country are joining the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces to defend the Motherland and their loved ones.

      A volunteer from Arkhangelsk with the callsign "Shmel" was inspired by the actions of a fellow countryman who went to the SMO. He is now a resident of Nizhny Novgorod. He admits that he loves the city at the confluence of the Volga and the Oka very much; for him it is his favorite in Russia, which is why he decided to go from here to defend the Motherland. At the recruitment point he received an offer to serve in intelligence.

      "I believe the Motherland must be defended. Who, if not me? I really wanted to become a tanker, dreamed of being commander of a tank battalion, but I will serve in intelligence," Shmel said.

      A volunteer from Vladikavkaz decided to follow the example of his older brother. According to him, he wants to be assigned to the same unit where his relative serves.

      "My brother has been a contract serviceman for ten years. He has been there from the very beginning. I decided to support him, to support my Motherland. One needs to go to the special military operation to defend Russia's interests," the volunteer noted.

      Another recruit from Nizhny Novgorod plans to work with UAVs at the front.

      "I was born and raised here. I decided to go defend the Motherland because I consider it a man's duty," the man said.

      It should be recalled that the state provides defenders of the Motherland with decent financial support and assists their families. Also, those who sign a contract and go to the SMO zone are issued certificates granting 10 sotkas (1,000 square meters) of land in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The certificate can be used two years after it is issued.

      In addition, the Nizhny Novgorod region operates a mechanism for military social contracts, which additionally guarantee the contract serviceman's family 10,000 rubles per month for each child, benefits for payment of utilities, preschool service fees and other forms of support. Individual support for the serviceman's family is also provided.

      The coordination center for the support of servicemen, mobilized personnel and their families, operating at the House of National Unity, provides the dispatch of volunteers to their place of service and issues additional equipment.
