They want to create a plant for the production of potato flakes in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      01 October 2025 15:17 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation has developed an investment proposal for the construction of a plant producing potato flakes. Strengthening work with investors and expanding support measures from 2025 are among the objectives of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy," initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

      The prepared proposal is a fully calculated project with selected land plots and a minimal amount of preparatory procedures for a potential investor. Additionally, the region's raw material base has been assessed and prospective markets for the finished product analyzed.

      Investments in the project are estimated at 3.3 billion rubles, and the plant's design capacity is over 22,000 tonnes of product annually. Investors are offered four sites for locating the production: in the Dalnekonstantinovsky and Lukoyanovsky municipal districts, as well as in Arzamas.

      A potential investor can take advantage of several preferential lending programs, as well as targeted loans for the purchase of industrial equipment.

      According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, based on the results of 2024 the region holds leading positions in potato production in the Volga Federal District (PFO) and ranks fifth in Russia. The 2024 harvest amounted to 696,000 tonnes. The prospects for developing potato farming in the region are ensured by a combination of favorable climatic conditions and active implementation of hydromelioration (irrigation and drainage).
