An investigation into a criminal case against the head of a commercial organization, accused of systematically giving bribes, has been completed in the Gorodetsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the regional office of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
According to the investigation, from 2020 to 2022 the director, personally and through intermediaries, handed money to the chief specialist of the department responsible for the repair and maintenance of public roads of the regional Main Directorate for Road Maintenance and Repair (GUAD). The funds were intended to ensure that the official would not perform technical supervision duties during road construction, would allow unobstructed acceptance of completed work, and would sign contract payment statements.
Investigators identified five episodes of illegal activity. Three of them have been qualified as giving a bribe in a large amount through an intermediary, and the other two as the direct transfer of money to an official. The total amount of illegal remuneration was 800,000 rubles.
The illegal actions were uncovered and suppressed by officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia with the assistance of the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Organized Crime and Prevention Unit of the Gorodetsky Municipal Police Department.
The case, with an approved indictment, has now been sent to court for trial.
A separate proceeding has been opened against an employee of GUAD, who has already appeared in court.
Earlier it emerged that former deputy mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Ilya Shtokman was accused of receiving a bribe of 55 million rubles.
Recall that the average bribe amount in the Nizhny Novgorod Region has decreased to 425,000 rubles.
