The Investigative Committee is investigating the death of a worker in Zavolzhye after he was electrocuted.

      A criminal case has been opened in Zavolzhye, Nizhny Novgorod region, over the death of a man. This was reported by the regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      According to the law enforcement agency, the tragedy occurred on 29 September. The head of a section of the organization was in the premises of a closed switchgear on Sovetskaya Street, where repair and maintenance work on electrical equipment was being carried out. While performing his duties he suffered an electrical injury and died at the scene.

      The criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — violation of occupational safety requirements that negligently caused the death of a person.

      Investigators are already taking the necessary steps to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy. During the investigation, a legal assessment will be made of the actions of officials responsible for ensuring compliance with safety rules at the enterprise.

      Earlier the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case over the death of a worker while washing windows on Zhukova Street in the regional center.
