Former mayor of Nizhny Novgorod and current State Duma deputy Vadim Bulavinov told reporters on September 29 about his difficult relationship with his ex-wife Nadezhda Teplyuk, with whom he has two children. According to the politician, despite a scandalous court case, they have not been in contact for more than a year and a half.

Bulavinov noted that after the official divorce in 2018, which was unknown to anyone, his relationship with his former wife remained neutral. All assets, including the house where he lives and even cash, were registered in his ex-wife’s name. He admitted that he did this out of trustfulness, not anticipating the possible consequences. When it became clear that the assets could pass to Nadezhda’s new husband, he filed a claim for division.

“I did not file for division until she officially remarried. Because I want everything I earned in my life to remain for my children. I’m in my seventies; I’m not going to be the richest person in the cemetery,” Bulavinov said.

The ex-mayor also said that during the proceedings his former spouse’s representatives resort to dubious methods: they file complaints with authorities, try to create a negative media image and undermine his reputation.

Recall that in 2023 Teplyuk accused the politician of assault. And this spring the woman demanded in court that her former husband be evicted from the house and that the gold bars be returned.

“Everything was registered in her name, including those same bars. It was her idea. She bought them with the money I deposited into her account. As a decent man, I put them in the bank until the court’s decision. The certificates are with her,” the lawmaker said.

Bulavinov offered his ex-wife to register the property in the children’s names and to withdraw the claim, but he did not receive consent from the other side. The division of property continues; the deputy awaits the court’s decision.

Earlier it was reported that Vadim Bulavinov’s son filed a suit against his father and stepmother Nadezhda Teplyuk for 409 million rubles.
