United Metallurgical Company (OMK) is launching a grant competition for the second time for teachers from Vyksa schools and instructors of the A. A. Kozeradsky Metallurgical College. Participants can receive up to 250,000 rubles to implement their educational projects.
The competition is held within the "Shukhov Height" program, which helps develop education in the Vyksa urban district. Applications can be submitted until October 31, 2025, and the winners will be announced in December.
Participants are offered three directions in which they can distinguish themselves.
In the "My Favorite Workplace" category, subject teachers can present projects for the modernization of classrooms. Up to 150,000 rubles can be obtained to purchase furniture, equipment and visual aids.
The second direction, "My Favorite Subject," is for those who teach mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science or specialized disciplines. They need to come up with ways to engage students in their subject: using unusual formats, modern approaches and non-standard solutions. Winners will receive up to 250,000 rubles, including a personal award of 80,000.
Within the "Professional Growth" category, schools can receive up to 150,000 rubles for teachers' professional development. Funds can be directed to participation in conferences, seminars, internships and other forms of training.
Last year, six teachers received support from OMK, and two school teams went to pedagogical conferences in Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad, where they became acquainted with new educational approaches.
Thanks to the grants, School No. 9 acquired a modern laboratory that meets the new educational standards. Now students can conduct more than 200 practical and research works in physics and engage in scientific projects. And at School No. 12 they developed their own course "Profimatika," which helps senior students better understand complex problems and prepare more confidently for the Unified State Exam (EGE).
As Yulia Demina, head of the Department of Vocational Training and Youth Work at OMK's Corporate University, said, the company wants to support those educators who are not afraid to try new things, develop and inspire students, because it is precisely such teachers who form the generation of future engineers, scientists and inventors, and possibly even future colleagues at OMK.
"To help participants we will hold two webinars in which we will give recommendations on how to prepare applications, share examples of interesting projects and answer questions. As last year, we plan to support eight initiatives from schools and teachers," she added.
