      The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, drew attention to a criminal case concerning the death of a man in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was prompted by the repeated findings of the jury that the defendant was not guilty.

      According to the regional investigative department, the case concerns a man accused of inflicting fatal bodily injuries on his neighbor. However, the jurors have already several times concluded that the accused was not connected to the crime.

      The defendant’s lawyer criticized the course of the investigation, questioning the justification for the charges and the quality of the collected evidence.

      In this connection, Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to submit a detailed report on the results of the investigation.

      Earlier it was reported that a preliminary inquiry began after a multi-vehicle accident involving a bus in Nizhny Novgorod.
