Torpedo suffered its third consecutive defeat, losing to Neftekhimik.

      On Saturday, September 27, a KHL regular-season match between Torpedo and Neftekhimik of Nizhnekamsk took place in Nizhny Novgorod. The visitors won 2-1.

      The first goal of the game was scored in the 10th minute — Neftekhimik forward Danil Yurtaykin. In the second period, in the 29th minute, Bulat Shafigullin increased the advantage for the Nizhnekamsk side.

      The hosts managed to respond only toward the end of the second period: in the 37th minute Sergey Goncharuk narrowed the gap. However, Torpedo could not catch up with their opponents.

      After nine games, the Nizhny Novgorod side has 13 points and sits second in the Western Conference. Neftekhimik have played the same number of matches, have 12 points and are third in the Eastern Conference.

      Torpedo head coach Alexey Isakov said after the game that his feelings were mixed. “The Torpedo players created chances, controlled the game, but the decisive actions in front of the opponent’s net were not aggressive enough.

      “There were situations when it seemed the puck was about to cross the line, but there are certain things we must do on the ice. Today they were lacking,” the Nizhny Novgorod coach said.

      Recall that since the start of the season Torpedo had recorded six wins, a club record. But then the Shanghai Dragons ended the Nizhny side’s winning streak in the KHL. Afterwards Torpedo lost to Dinamo Minsk.
