T2, a Russian mobile operator, and the GLOBALBANKACCOUNTS service are offering to issue international VISA and Mastercard cards from CIS banks in the mobile app. A scanned copy of an international passport is required to apply for a card, and top-ups are available from any MIR card. The new option gives T2 customers financial freedom when traveling abroad and for online purchases overseas.
T2 has become a partner of the GLOBALBANKACCOUNTS service, which allows issuing international cards. The companies offer T2 customers a unique opportunity — to open a virtual or physical international card from CIS banks. Applications are available in the operator's app in the "Finservices" section; the card will be valid for one year.
The set of documents required depends on the selected bank. For some, only a scanned copy of the international passport is needed. Top-ups are available from any MIR card, after which rubles are converted into dollars or euros at the user's choice; linking to Google Pay is also available.
The card issuance period is from one business day. With a foreign bank card, a customer will be able to easily pay for purchases in shops and restaurants, book hotels, and withdraw cash abroad. After issuing the card, the user must notify the Federal Tax Service about opening an account in a foreign bank.
