MegaFon will provide its subscribers in China with 12 hours of free internet.

      25 September 2025 17:06 Society MegaFon has prepared a special offer ahead of Tourism Day: now, when visiting China, the operator's subscribers will receive a free 12-hour internet package. The number of potential recipients of the service is growing — since 15 September, after the lifting of visa restrictions, the flow of Russian tourists to China has increased by 5%.

      The countdown for using the 1 GB welcome package will begin not from the moment of entry into the country, but only from the moment of going online. No additional activation is required — the option is already available to subscribers by default and activates automatically when they go online.

      Both the welcome package and MegaFon's roaming service will allow subscribers to use without restrictions even those services that are unavailable in the PRC — for example, messengers popular with Russians, video services, cloud storage, as well as watching films and TV series in online cinemas and even content downloaded from online cinemas for offline viewing. When connected to local Wi‑Fi, these services and content may be unavailable. The special offer will be valid until the end of this autumn for all individual subscribers.

      Travel to China has become more popular among Russians: this year 30% more tourists went to China than in 2024. In addition, in the first week after the visa regime was lifted, tourist traffic increased by more than 5% compared with the previous week.

      "It is to be expected that the country's popularity among our compatriots is noticeably growing, and our offer may be especially timely now that the visa‑free regime has come into effect. We hope that the option will be in demand and will help customers quickly get their bearings in a new place, promptly contact their relatives and resolve all necessary matters," comments MegaFon's Commercial Director Dmitry Rudskikh.

      From 15 September 2025, Russian citizens can visit China without a visa. It is possible to stay in the country without a visa for 30 days; the trial regime will be in effect until 14 September 2026.

      World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on 27 September. The holiday was established in 1979, and in Russia it has been observed since 1983. The main idea was the promotion and development of tourism worldwide.
