The team of the National Research University "Presidential Academy" won the silver medal at the Academic Friendship Games.

      In Moscow, the Academic Games of Friendship of the Presidential Academy concluded, bringing together 16 branches of the university. Participants competed in two disciplines — boys' football and girls' volleyball.

      The women's volleyball team of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management (NIU) confidently advanced through the group stage and finished first in their group. In the quarterfinals the team defeated the Bryansk branch 2–0, and in the semifinals beat opponents from the Volga Region Institute of Management (Saratov) — 2–0.

      In the decisive match the Nizhny Novgorod side faced the team from the North-West Institute of Management (Saint Petersburg). The final was tense: only in the third set did the Saint Petersburg representatives manage to snatch victory — 17–15.

      Thus, the NIU team won the silver medal at the Academic Games for the first time. The organizing committee named Nizhny Novgorod student Arina Putseva the tournament's best player.

      It should also be added that NIU's men's futsal team finished fourth.

      At the solemn closing ceremony the awards to the winners and prize-winners were presented by the Rector of the Presidential Academy, Alexey Komissarov, and the president of the Russian Basketball Federation and Olympic medalist Andrey Kirilenko.

      The women's team coach Alexander Larin noted that it was a great honor for the team to receive the awards from the hands of the honored guests.

      NIU director Ekaterina Lebedeva traveled to Moscow to support the players.

      "Congratulations to the women's volleyball team of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management and their coach Alexander Larin on their successful performance at the Academic Games of Friendship, and I wish them new victories at the XXIII Open Games of Universities of the Volga Federal District, which will be held in Nizhny Novgorod in October 2025!" said Ekaterina Lebedeva.
